MY Acer Aspire does not have a Firewire port. How do I connect my Sony DCR-VX2000 is not it? I've heard of dual FireWire / USB-hub, which is the best way to proceed? If not, what is the best way to proceed?

FireWire / USB hub do not work to download the video. You need to buy a FireWire card for your laptop, but before you go looking for sure that your laptop is an empty bay, or you may be out of luck.
You should be able to add a FireWire card to your laptop – make sure to check if you use PCMCIA or Express.
