Misleading
The ad implies that the Acer Aspire One comes with Windows Home Edition 2007. Only upon receiving are you informed that you only get a 60 day free trail and then you must purchase…
I've ordered an Acer Aspire One 10. 1 netbook (AOD150-1165) on Feb 28, 2009, the Amazon. Item delivered March 2 and arrived March 14.
When I ordered the blue sapphire was available, but I'm happy blue sapphire. It seems very interesting. I normally for both white and black models, but I'm glad that was not available:) The only thing I can complain, but is easily fingerprints then j 'try not to touch the shiny surfaces.
When unpacking the box and hold your hand, you understand how light is present (especially if you dragged a portable 17 ") This is very portable and ideal for small tray tables and aircraft (or your turn )
1. 6GHz Intel Atom N270 is a single core, but is much stronger and certainly more than enough for most office-type. The netbook has Windows XP Home w/SP3 installed instead of Vista so for me it feels as sensitive as (or better) to a Core 2 Duo for notebooks running Vista.
The camera is rather quiet. Noise of the fan or hard drive is minimal. The fan does not come on often during normal use. Might be more active with the CPU-heavy tasks / activities HD.
The screen is 1024×600 CrystalBright (slide) type LCD, but very comfortable to read in various lighting conditions. This is an integrated 0. 3M megapixel (640×480), Webcam and microphone built into the frame of the display. Ideal for using a phone / video conferencing software like Skype, etc. BTW, to earn some 'of vertical space on your desktop, you should put the Windows XP taskbar to auto-hide and pop-ups when you move the cursor to the edge of the screen.
The keyboard is actually very well designed. Unlike some models of its competitors, the shift, control, alt, tab, enter, backspace keys are all in the right places. Initially I found the keys a little 'small, but after a few days of use, and you get used to avoid hitting two keys. The arrow keys may have been a bit 'bigger space on the lower right side of the keyboard.
The touchpad on this model consists of Synaptics, and is highly configurable. Like everything else is a bit 'small, but it works pretty well. It would have been better if it were larger. Touchpad buttons is another story. They are correctly located under the touchpad, but instead of using two independent buttons, the designers chose to use a bar over the two buttons. This makes it much more difficult to press the keys. I would prefer two separate buttons. I think it's the biggest complaint about the design of this netbook. However, the buttons are not diminished with time. I did change the buttons by pressing the two ends of the button bar at the same time repeatedly. I do a certain number of times before using the laptop everyday. So it is not so desperate.
Well, I tried to get served to build the keyboard and mouse, but those that make extensive work can still connect a USB keyboard and USB mouse. For example, Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 is a perfect partner.
Alternatively, you can press the touch pad instead of pressing buttons. The Synaptics touchpad is very configurable. You can set a corner of the touchpad to right-click and everywhere else where would the left button.
The speakers this netbook is below. They are of excellent quality and the sound is pretty good. However, since the openings of the speakers are under the netbook if you're holding on a soft surface like a carpet or bed can get the sound that the openings will be blocked. This is not a good idea to keep him on a soft surface for a long time, because however close the ventilation holes and thus lead the netbook to overheat.
There are 1 GB DDR2 SODIMM RAM module installed (mine was made by Samsung). No memory soldered on board (description on Amazon is incorrect and refers to adolescents 8. 9 "model). The memory is easily expandable to 2 GB SODIMM module replacement. I upgraded the memory, the 10. 1 "Aspire One to 2 GB by installing a" Mushkin 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Notebook Memory – Retail "module (part Mushkin # 991618). It works great! Please note that this form is CAS4 (4-4-4-12) distribution rather CAS5 more frequent (5-5-5-16). In other words, is slightly faster than the memory, because it has less wait states:)
The hard disk is a HTS543216L9A300 Hitachi 160 GB 2. 5 "5400 rpm, Serial ATA, 8MB of disk cache. It 'pretty quiet. I think there is much room for most applications. If necessary, you can connect an external USB hard drive or hard drive itself can be updated easily almost like the RAM.
Wireless Chip (AR5007EG) is made by Atheros and supports 802. 11b / g. The range is pretty decent. I had no problems connecting to my access point Wi-Fi at home, work or other free public hotspots. I used wifi at Starbucks, Barnes and Noble Bookstore and McDonald's, among others (I Get Free WiFi in these places since I AT & T DSL). However, some users report that they have some problems. Atheros driver installed by default, is old (version 7. 6. 0. 260). The last time I found the chipset AR5007EG WiFi is a version 7. 6. 1. 244 (dated 2/25/2009) and I think that could solve the problems of a certain experience of people. (For convenience, I have given instructions at the bottom to the review of access to updated drivers) The properties of the device indicates that the Wi-Fi chip is configured for maximum energy savings. Moreover, as the RAM and hard drive, wireless module is also available. Who knows, someone (or Acer), we would have a form parts for 802. 11n or a combo WiFi + Bluetooth.
There is no accumulation of Bluetooth functionality. If you need to interface with Bluetooth devices, you must purchase a USB Bluetooth adapter as CIRAGE BTA3210 v2. 1 EDR Class 2 Micro Bluetooth adapter or you can get a combo with a Bluetooth mouse from Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks (Black) Update: Apparently, the Acer Aspire One AOD150 build for some Asian markets are equipped to build – Bluetooth. It 'a shame that the Bluetooth is not included for the American version. (
Like many other pioneers, the laptop came with built Panasonic 5800mAh, 59W battery. Lasts 7-8h as a type of normal office work with Wi-Fi enabled. This is a higher capacity battery than it would normally ship (4400m, even 6 cells), but most everyone has the largest so far.
There are 3x USB 2. 0 ports, 1x 10/100 Ethernet port, 1x VGA port external monitor and a single multi-format flash memory card Reader / Writer (once again, the description by Amazon is incorrect about 2 slots for SD). There's also a headphone jack and external microphone and a slot for Kensington-style lock.
There is also a slot for 3G SIM chip near the battery. My netbook has the slot, but no 3G equipment there to accept the SIM card. Presumably some models will be equipped with 3G wireless capabilities.
A difference of 8. 9 'predecessor, the 10th. 1 model does not have a case. I took a neoprene sleeve in a local shop that was designed for a 11 "laptop (Sony VAIO 11. 1-inch Neoprene Carrying Case). Please note that with 6-cell battery of the width of netbooks is about 8. 5. Thus, most 10 "cases with a width of about 7-8" will be able or will not require signficant extends to choose a case accordingly. In fact, I personally use both. The neoprene sleeve is inside a larger 12-13 "Laptop Bag with pockets of sufficient storage for the charger and other cables. When I go to a cafe, I only take the netbook sleeve and leave the rest in the car.
The netbook also does not come with system recovery disk. There is a utility for recovering pre-installed Acer able to create recovery discs for you. You should do as soon as possible. You never know when you need it. You will need a USB attached CD / DVD burner and recordable media (6 CD-R System Recovery 2 for the applications and drivers, or 2 DVD-R to DVD-R 1 recovery + applications and drivers). I bought a NU Slim USB External CD-ROM DVD Burner ESW860 and has worked for me. E 'thin enough to wear with the netbook and you can watch DVDs, if you want. You should be able to use it on any laptop or desktop with USB interface 2. 0 interface. Update: You can also order a set of recovery CDs directly from Acer for $ 20. You must go to www Acer Support website. acerpanam. com and click on the U.S. map and select "eRecovery CD Purchase" link. It checks the serial number of the first netbooks.
In addition to Windows XP Home, Microsoft Works is a trial version of Microsoft Office 2007, a version of 30 days of McAfee anti-virus suite and a couple other trialware installed. These can be easily uninstalled from the Control Panel if you want (or need).
Overall I'm very satisfied and highly recommend it. Obviously I can not speak to customer support / service that I need to use the service. If your goal is to run normal applications and surf the net with a decent screen size is good.

Updated: Updated driver Atheros AR5007EG Wi-Fi:
You can download the version 7. 6. 1. 244 (2/25/2009) Driverless Softpedia. Go to drivers. Softpedia. AR5007EG com and enter in the search box above. Download the zip file (ar5_ar9_7. 6. 1. 244. ZIP) and unzip it. Then go to Install_CD subfolder and start the installation. exe. When asked to choose to update the driver. It 'easy and painless. . . If you're still having problems after updating the driver, change the channel the access point / router. There is a strong interference in May by a near-wireless router / access point. Good luck!
I was worried about getting one as I had a 12 "laptop and was not satisfied with the size of the screen. But this screen is so bright that it becomes a problem, let alone 1064×600 really does seem bigger!
Another bonus, this child is 7. 5 to 8 hours due to 5800Amh 6-cell battery! Sweet. Very happy with this. I heard most were shipping with the phone 4400Amh 6, which gives you 5-6 hours. I run away, in whole or two before charging, very nice! I must continue to pursue the battery indicator in the speech, I think the battery is still 75% or 50%, only lasts for ever!
This is super portable obviously, and I do not know how the laptop should be. You can put on one leg, which does not weigh down actually sitting on his knee, which is nice. I have had many laptops over the years, the size of the screen and the second wins hands down in price and performance. The unit is heavy when there is strong compared to some recent mobile thin plastic.

Acer Aspire One
I purchased the Aspire One mostly for use on the internet and also for photos. I did purchase the 6.5 hour battery and that is the best part about this netbook.

lightweight netbook
After some research, I chose this netbook because of the sizable keyboard, relatively long battery life, and relatively large screen.
Acer does a nice mini-laptop in a better world. The screen is larger and equally brilliant. The keyboard is still great (for small). N strange place right shift key placement (Asus, Lenovo, etc..) Buttons Mousepad below the touchpad are not along the side (yeah). Now it's easy to add more RAM or replace the disk without having to completely disassemble the unit and void the warranty. I have no complaints. I loved the first, addresses all the criticisms of the first. Nothing important just refinement. Someone is listening to its customers and Acer.
Addendum: the screen is bright, and the initial order are the largest 5900ma battery. Keep back a bit ', but the running time is amazing. Must be the longest race of the mini-laptop does not, including the new ASU 1000HE and Samsung 10NC, for much less $ $. It 'a win in my book. Easy to type (for me) looks good, I need a slot for xD and it was a 7-1, is a bit 'of swelling in ceramic, simply remove and put what you need, the HD is big enough .

Great battery life, second Acer netbook purchase
Even without the extended eight-hour battery that the early buyers received, the battery life is great. I’ve gotten as long as 6.5 hours or more, and usually get at least 5.

Electronica Direct was very quick about shipping my Acer Aspire One 10.1″. Within one day, UPS had already picked it up and had it delivered on the second day.

Good
The netbook works perfect, is a good computer for travel. The only thing that I dislike is that it does not come with bluetooth. Too bad.
