lightweight netbook
After some research, I chose this netbook because of the sizable keyboard, relatively long battery life, and relatively large screen.

A Shocker, Truly
I have been a die-hard Mac person, for years. My iBook’s hard drive died unexpectedly and suddenly and I was hard-pressed to come up with a computer I could start using quickly…

Great computer
Bought this for my girlfriend and she loves it. We were both skeptical because we felt like Acer was kind of a “brand X” vs. HP, Dell, Samsung…

Other than the speed, this is a great computer
We bought this as an extra computer to supplement our desktop which is what we use mainly. Because we were going to be moving it around the house and traveling with it we wanted…
I've ordered an Acer Aspire One 10th 1 Netbook (AOD150-1165) February 28 2009 in the Amazon. Item is shipped in March 2nd and arrived March 14.
When I ordered only blue sapphire is available, but I am happy with sapphire blue. It seems very interesting. I usually order a white or black, but they are happy, are not available:) The only thing I can complain about is that it is easy to finger if I try to not touch the shiny surface.
When you unpack the box and hold in your hand, you understand how light is present (especially if you carry a 17 "laptop) This is very portable, ideal for small airplane tray tables (or turn)
1. 6GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor is a simple heart, but it is quite Snappy and certainly more than enough for most office-type use. The Netbook comes with Windows XP installed Vista Home w/SP3 instead of answering me, as you feel like (or better) than a Core 2 Duo-based laptops running Vista.
The camera is rather quiet. The fan or hard drive noise is minimal. The fan is not often involved in normal use. It could be more active, with some of the main CPU / HD activity tasks.
The 1024×600 screen CrystalBright (bright) type LCD, but very easy to read in various lighting conditions. It is integrated 0. 3M megapixel (640×480), integrated webcam and microphone as part of the screen. Ideal for use of a video phone / software such as Skype, etc. BTW, for a vertical space on your desktop, you can put the Windows XP auto-hide and pop-up when you move the cursor to the edge of the screen .
The keyboard is very well designed. Unlike some models of its competitors, the shift, control, alt, tab, backspace, enter all the keys are in the right place. At first I found the buttons a little 'small, but after a few days of use, is used to avoid hitting and two keys. The keys may have been a little 'more, as there is space along the bottom right of the keyboard.
The keyboard of this model is composed by Synaptics and is very configurable. Like everything else, it's a little 'small, but works well acceptable. It would have been better if it were wider. Buttons on the touchpad is another story. They are located below the touchpad, but instead of using two buttons designers chose to use a two-bar buttons. Therefore, the buttons much more difficult to press. I would have preferred two buttons. I think it is the biggest complaint about the design of this Netbook. However, the buttons to become softer over time. I relaxed by pressing buttons on both ends of the button bar at the same time repeatedly. I do a couple of times before using the computer each day. So is not that desperate.
Well, I try to use for the construction of the keyboard and mouse, but those who do work can still connect a USB keyboard and USB mouse. For example, Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 is a perfect match.
Alternatively, you can press the button instead of pressing buttons. The synaptics touchpad is very configurable. You can set a corner of the touch of a button and right button at any other place would be left.
The speakers this is Netbook this title. They are very strong and the sound quality is pretty decent. However, since the speaker are the openings Netbook below, if you are taking a soft surface like carpet or a bed with her can get feutrée that the openings will be blocked. This is not a good idea to take on a soft surface for a long time in any case that is blocking the fan vents and cause overheating of the Netbook.
There is 1 GB DDR2 SODIMM RAM module installed (mine was made by Samsung). There is no memory soldered (the description on Amazon is incorrect and refers to people aged between 8th 9 "model). The memory is easily expandable to 2 GB, replacing the SODIMM module. I upgraded the memory, the 10th 1 "Aspire One to 2 GB by installing a" Mushkin 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Laptop Memory – Retail "module (part Mushkin # 991618). It works very well! Please note this form is CAS4 (4-4-4-12), instead of common calendar CAS5 (5-5-5-16). In other words, it is slightly faster than memory, which has not been waiting:)
The hard disk is a Hitachi HTS543216L9A300, 160GB 2nd 5 "5400rpm, Serial ATA, 8 MB disk cache. E 'molto tranquillo. I believe that there is plenty of space for most applications. If you need more, you can connect an external USB hard disk or hard drive can easily be updated almost as RAM.
The chip wireless (AR5007EG) is made by Atheros and supports 802. 11b / g. The range is pretty decent. I had problems connecting to my access point Wi-Fi at home, work or other public access points for free. I use wifi at Starbucks and Barnes and Noble bookstore and McDonald's, among other things, (I have free WiFi in these places because I have AT & T DSL). However, some users reported having some problems. The Atheros driver is installed by default is old (version 7th 6th 0. 260). The last that I found for the AR5007EG wifi chipset is version 7. 6. 1. 244 (dated 2/25/2009) and I think that can solve the problems that people experience. (For convenience, I have given instructions at the bottom of the review of access to updated drivers) The properties indicate that the Wi-Fi chip is configured for maximum energy savings. Moreover, as RAM and hard drive, the wireless module is also available. Who knows, someone (or Acer) would be the replacement of the module 802. 11N or WiFi + Bluetooth combos.
There is no built in bluetooth capabilities. If you need to interface with Bluetooth devices, you must purchase a USB Bluetooth adapter as CIRAGE BTA3210 v2. 1 EDR Class 2 Micro Bluetooth Adapter, or you can get a combo with a bluetooth mouse as Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks (Black) Update: Apparently, Acer Aspire One AOD150 build models for some Asian markets just built Bluetooth. C'est dommage Bluetooth is not intended for the American version. : (
Like many other first, the laptop comes with built Panasonic 5800mAh, 59W battery. It 'hard for 7-8hrs in normal office type work with Wi-Fi-enabled. This is a battery of higher capacity that the ship would normally (4400mAh, including a 6-cell), but most are more updated.
There are 3x USB 2. 0 ports, 1 Ethernet 10/100 port, 1 VGA external monitor port and a single multi-format flash memory card read / write (in this case, the Amazon, the description is wrong on 2 SD card slot). There is also an external microphone and headphone jack and a Kensington lock slot style.
There is also a SIM slot for 3G chip near the battery. My Netbook slot, but no 3G in hardware, to accept the SIM card. Presumably, some models have built-in 3G wireless.
Unlike 8th 9 "predecessor, the 10th 1 model is not a case. I chose a neoprene sleeve in a magazine that is designed for a 11 "laptop (Sony VAIO 11th 1-Inch Neoprene protection case). Please note that the 6-cell battery on the width of the Netbook is around 8. 5th So most of the 10 "case width of about 7.8" is not significant, which extend or choose accordingly you. In fact, I use both. The neoprene sleeve is in a larger 12-13 "laptop bag with enough pockets to store the charger and other cables. When I go to a bar, do Netbook in the cylinder and leave the rest in the car.
The Netbook also does not come with disks for system recovery. There is a utility to recover Acer pre-installed, which will generate your recovery disc for you. Should be done as soon as possible. You never know when you need them. You will need an attached USB CD / DVD recordable media, and (6 CD-R for the recovery system for 2 + applications and drivers, or 2 DVD-R 1 recovery + DVD-R for applications and drivers). I bought a NU Slim External Drive USB DVD SuperMulti ESW860 and has worked well for me. E 'thin enough to proceed with your Netbook and you can watch DVD movies, if you wish. You should be able to use it on any desktop or notebook computer with USB port 2. 0 interface. Update: You can also order a CD to recover directly from Acer for $ 20. You must go to the website supporting Acer www. acerpanam. com and click on the United States on the map and select "link eRecovery CD Purchase. It will check the serial number of your first Netbook.
In addition to Windows XP Home, MS Works ago, a trial version of Microsoft Office 2007, a 30-days of McAfee anti-virus suite and a couple of other trialware installed. It can be uninstalled from Control Panel, easily, if you want (or need).
Overall, I am very pleased with him and strongly recommended. Obviously, I can not speak to Customer Support / service as I do not need to use the service. If your goal is to run the usual applications and surf the net with a good screen size is good.

Update: Update Driver Wi-Fi Atheros AR5007EG:
You can download the version 7. 6. 1. 244 (2/25/2009) driver free Softpedia. Go to the drivers. Softpedia. AR5007EG com and enter the top of the search box. Download the zip file (ar5_ar9_7. 6th 1st 244th ZIP) and unzip it. Then go to Install_CD subfolder for installation. exe. When prompted choose to upgrade the driver. It 'easy and painless. . . If you're still having problems after updating the driver, change the channel of your AP / router. May there will be high near interference wifi router / access point. Good luck!
Acer is a nice mini-notebook in a better place. The screen is bigger and brighter. The keyboard is great (for small). N. strangely right shift key placement (Asus, Lenovo, etc.). Mousepads Buttons are not below the button next to (yes). Now it's easy to increase the RAM or replace the hard drive without any disassembly of the device and void the warranty. I have no complaints. I loved the first one, which addresses all the criticisms of the first. Nothing serious just refinement. Someone is listening to its customers and Acer.
Addendum: the screen is brilliant, and the first orders for the largest 5900ma battery. It sticks a little on the back ', but the timing is surprising. It must be the longest running mini-laptop in the world, including the new 1000he Asus and Samsung 10nc for much less $ $. This is a victory in my book. Easy to touch type (for me), looks good, I need a xd card and has a 7-1, is a po 'to inflate the software, just delete and save what you need, the HD is large enough .
I was afraid to have one as I have seen a 12 "laptop and was not satisfied with the size of the screen. But this screen is so bright, that does not become a problem, not to mention the fact that it seems really 1064×600 bigger!
Another bonus, this child is 7. 5 to 8 hours because of 5800Amh a 6-cell battery! Sweet. Very happy. I heard most were with the 6-cell 4400Amh which gives you 5-6 hours. I can run all day or two before charging, very nice! I continue to watch the battery indicator in the distribution of the belief that the battery is still at 75% or 50% that lasts forever!
This is obviously super portable laptop and really like it should be. You can put on one leg, is not charged when you actually sit on the lap, which is beautiful. I have had many laptops over the years, screen size and the latter wins hands down for price and performance. The unit is a strong case with some heavy new notebook thin plastic.

Great battery life, second Acer netbook purchase
Even without the extended eight-hour battery that the early buyers received, the battery life is great. I’ve gotten as long as 6.5 hours or more, and usually get at least 5.

Electronica Direct was very quick about shipping my Acer Aspire One 10.1″. Within one day, UPS had already picked it up and had it delivered on the second day.

Good
The netbook works perfect, is a good computer for travel. The only thing that I dislike is that it does not come with bluetooth. Too bad.

Wife Likes it
Bought for my wife. I would say the keys are too small for a man…but one can adapt if this is your primary PC.

Mighty Little Machine.
This is my first laptop. I’ve used it for about 60 days.It is a lot more than I expected. Usually, if a product delivers half that advertised, I am satisfied.
